Xiaomi’s CC Series has been in the news since quite a while now. And on July 2, the CC Series was finally announced. This series is focused on the younger generation, and it is a device targeted towards youth. Xiaomi has launched the Mi CC9, CC9e and the CC9 Meitu Edition as the first three devices in the new line-up. As quite a lot of young people are addicted to take selfies for social media, this series claims to have a great selfie camera.

Mi CC9

The Mi CC9 is the better variant to buy if you’re looking forward to purchasing a deice from this series. The Mi CC9 has the Snapdragon 710 at its heart. Even though not being the latest chip, it is quite capable. But Xiaomi had recently trolled Realme for using the older chipset. So, I don’t know where this is heading towards.

On the front, it has a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with a waterdrop notch. This notch has the 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera which Xiaomi claims to be the best in its class. This camera will be the first to debut Mimoji animated avatars and dedicated AI portrait mode for low light. Also, there’s an under-display fingerprint scanner on the front.

It has the glass sandwich design which has been the trend this year. And it has a metal frame supporting the same rather than the plastic which we saw on some devices earlier this year. The back of the device has gorgeous S-curve when it gets hit by light – especially on the Blue variant.

Talking about the back, let’s talk about the rear cameras. There is a triple rear camera setup on the back with a 48MP f/1.8 primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera and the 2MP depth sensor. And even after packing all this, it weighs just 179g.

There are two main variants of the Mi CC9. Both of them have the Snapdragon 710 (obviously) which can be paired with 6GB/64GB storage variant or the 8GB/128GB storage variant. Note that the storage is expandable via a microSD card.

The device runs on Android 9 Pie with the MIUI 10 skin on top of that. And all hardware is being powered by a respectable 4,030 mAh battery which also has a support of 18W fast charging. And yeah, the device is feature packed with the 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC as well as an IR blaster.

The official sales are already live, and it is currently offered in three colour variants – White, Blue and Black. More colour options might be added in the future. The 6GB/64GB variant is priced at CNY 1,799 while the top variant – 8GB/128GB is priced at CNY 1,999.

Mi CC9 Meitu Edition

Before talking about the Mi CC9e, let’s just go through what the special Meitu Edition has to offer. The Mi CC9 Meitu Edition is basically the regular Mi CC9 with some custom camera tweaks by the Meitu Team.

Xiaomi is targeting the vloggers with this special edition. It has AI low light portrait mode, movie portrait and some special beauty filters. It even includes a special vlog mode with video stabilization. The specifications on this device are the same as the Mi CC9 but this does get a higher storage variant – 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage.

This variant is priced quite a bit higher at CNY 2,599 and will be offered in the special Pearl White colour which we saw in some earlier leaks.

Mi CC9e

Finally, let’s just go through the smaller brother of the Mi CC9 – the Mi CC9e. Xiaomi says that this device has all the essential features from the Mi CC9 – just in a smaller form factor. Also, that’s the reason that the name of the device is Mi CC9e, where ‘e’ stands for essential.

The device has a Snapdragon 665 at its heart, which will be powering the 6.088-inch HD+ AMOLED display. The Under-display fingerprint scanner and the 4,030 mAh battery is still retained in the device. Also, the camera modules on the front and the back remain the same.

And as expected, it’ll be priced lower than the Mi CC9. There will be three variants available for the device – 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and the 6GB/128GB. The pricing will start at CNY 1,299 and will go up to CNY 1,599.
