Samsung is a huge name in the Smartphone Industry. But when it comes to handling contests on social media, it doesn’t seem like they’re handling it well. They were hosting a #WirelessPowerShare contest on Twitter as well as Instagram. And it looks like the only rule was to have the highest number of likes or retweets. So, at the time of selection of winners, Samsung India selected contest winners who had fake likes/retweets.

While going through the winning entry of the person on Instagram, the selected winner had over 85k fake likes. Also, while going through the comments on his entry, it can be easily seen that the comments were also fake. Not only that, they were posted repeatedly by the same accounts.

That was while talking about the winning entry on Instagram. Now, when we see the winning entry of the person of Twitter, the person doesn’t even have the maximum number of likes/retweets. Maybe, the guy faked those likes/retweets until the time of selection of winners. And as soon as he was selected, he didn’t need to have them anymore.

So, did these winning entries did anything wrong? Yes, they did by buying those likes or retweets. They cheated those people who were truly participating in the contests with their real work. But did they do anything against the rules? Maybe. Maybe not. I’m saying that as the rules weren’t even clear enough.

But then, what did Samsung do? Their team just selected an entry which had these fake likes or retweets and declared them as winner. Not only that, the person who won on Twitter even has “Growth Hacker” in his Bio, which makes his entry even more suspicious.

I don’t have anything to say against these winners right now. But I would like to tell Samsung Team to have a better team for making the rules of such contests. Also, there should be a better team who can verify these entries and select a genuine entry rather than the ones who are using these fake likes or retweets.
