Poco is now working as an independent brand in India. As an independent brand, it just launched its first device – Poco X2. Poco X2, which is just a re-branded Redmi K30, is launched in India.

Recently, I covered an article where I asked whether the Poco X2 will be a real successor to the Poco F1 or just a re-branded Redmi K30. Today, we have an answer. It’s not a direct successor to the Poco F1 – and well, that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Afterall, it’s a new series – Poco X Series.

Poco achieved its success in the Indian market with the launch of the Poco F1. However, that was a device with flagship specifications with an extremely competitive price tag. It looks like that has changed with the launch of the Poco X2. Poco X2 has a Snapdragon 730G at its heart. This is neither a flagship processor nor the latest one – but should be capable enough to run most daily tasks.

On the back, the Poco X2 features a quad-camera array. The primary camera here is the latest Sony IMX686 which is a 64MP sensor. An 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor are joining that primary camera. I would have loved to see a telephoto lens instead of that 2MP depth sensor.

Turning the device to the side we look at the most, we can see beautiful 6.67-inch FHD+ RealityFlow display. Here, “RealityFlow” is just a fancy name for 120Hz refresh rate. It is important to note that there is HDR10 support on the device. Also, it would be important to note that this isn’t an AMOLED display and there is pill-shape punch hole in the top-right corner. This hole is equipped with the 20MP primary selfie camera with a 2MP depth sensor.

The Poco X2 runs on MIUI 11 out of the box. Everything on the device is being powered by a 4,500 mAh battery which supports fast charging of up to 27W through the USB Type-C port. Also, it comes with liquid cool technology – which according to Poco can dissipate heat 300% faster.

As the device is using LCD instead of AMOLED, the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the side. However, some of you might be glad to know that it retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. Also, Poco X2 isn’t missing out on an IR Blaster. It even comes with P2i water-repellent coating, VoWiFi as well as Hi-Res sound.

Poco X2 is currently being offered in three RAM/Internal Storage configurations – 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB. These variants are priced at ₹15,999, ₹16,999 and ₹19,999 respectively. As of now, the device is being offered in three colour variants – Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple and Phoenix Red.

The Poco X2 will be on sale from February 11 through Flipkart.com. If you have an ICICI Bank Credit/Debit Card, you will be able to avail ₹1,000 off on the device.
