Every manufacturer wants to deliver a 5G device at this point as that seems to be the hype for 2019. Even Xiaomi had announced the Mi Mix 3 5G quite a long time ago. And it’s finally going to hit the shelves in Europe and China soon. But the prices for 5G devices are quite higher than the 4G devices. Alongside all this hype and higher prices for 5G devices, Redmi has announced that the Redmi 5G device will cost less than $300.
But as expected, there’s a catch. That estimated price is for 5G devices which will be coming out by the end of next year i.e. 2020. Lu Weibing is currently attending the MWC Shanghai 2019. He recently posted on Weibo that 5G is coming. Also, he said that there will be 5G phones which would cost less than CNY 2,000 or about $300 by the end of next year. Note that the estimated price does not include taxes.
The sub-brands of Xiaomi, Redmi as well as Black Shark, are preparing to launch their own 5G-connected smartphones. Lu Weibing’s colleague from Black Shark also posted that their R&D team is preparing for the arrival of the next-gen wireless network. He also added that there will be a Black Shark 5G phone which will be released in the future.
As great as the price estimates are, neither Redmi nor Black Shark have provided any estimates on the launch date of their own 5G-connected devices.
Even though they haven’t given any expected launch dates, when they do or when something leaks about the same, I’ll let you know. Also, I’ll keep my eyes open to see if these estimates turn out to be true or not and will cover them by the end of next year.
