Security breaches are something no brand would like as they spread out a negative word about their brand to the world. Some brands like to be transparent about their breaches while some keeps on hiding them for some time. Well, OnePlus is one of the brands who wants to be transparent about this type of situation. Hence, when a security breach occurred recently, they came out and announced it publicly on their Forums after informing the affected users. In this recent OnePlus security breach, the names, contact numbers, emails and shipping addresses of several orders could’ve been exposed.

In the forum post, it went ahead to reveal that their systems have been breached. In this breach, the information about certain orders were exposed to third parties. It did confirm that the payment information, passwords and their accounts are safe. Also, it confirmed that not all users’ orders were affected by this breach.

Earlier last year, OnePlus faced a data breach where the bank card details of several customers were exposed. This time, the financial information has been kept safe, but their personal information has been exposed – which is just equally bad.

OnePlus security breach exposed names, contact numbers, emails and shipping addresses

This security breach was discovered by the security team while it was monitoring its systems. As soon as the team got to know about this breach, they took immediate steps to stop the intruder ad reinforce security. Other than that, the team also made sure that there aren’t any similar vulnerabilities waiting to be exploited.

Note that all the affected users have already been notified by email. So, if you haven’t received any mail from OnePlus regarding this, you’re safe and shouldn’t be worried – at least, right now. But if you have received an email from OnePlus regarding this breach, then you’re affected. There’s nothing you can currently do if you’re a part of the breach. But keep your eyes wide open as you might receive spam and phishing emails as a result of this incident. Just stay safe and don’t fall for any of those spam and phishing emails.

OnePlus has already said that they’re working with relevant authorities to further investigate this breach. So, if there is any new development regarding this breach, I’ll make sure to cover that.
