Even though majority of the flagship devices in the industry started offering Wireless Charging as well as Reverse Wireless Charging, OnePlus devices were always lacking. However, things are about to change as the OnePlus 8 Series will feature 30W Warp Wireless Charging.
This can be confirmed as a thread on OnePlus Forums went live today which talked about the new Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger. This, as the name suggests is a 30W Wireless Charger which can be used to top up your device from 0% to 50% in half hour.
Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger comes with a charge efficiency of 97% which is pretty good for a wireless charging. It is also equipped with a “charge pump” which would deactivate charging when abnormal currents and voltages are detected.
Also, OnePlus has utilized Warp Wireless direct charging architecture – which would enable real time communication between wireless charger and the phone through a customized chip. A combination of these two technologies will enable the 30W Wireless Charger to be both – fast as well as stable.
If you already have a Qi Wireless Charger, you will still be able to use that with the OnePlus 8 Series. However, your device will only charge at 5W – which would be a bit too slow. But if you have a Qi Wireless Charger that supports 10W EPP standard, your device will be able to charge at 10W – which is alright.
As of now, I am quite excited to see this development. Last year, I even created a thread on the OnePlus Forums to express my thoughts on how convenient wireless charging can be – if implemented. And even though that might not have been the only thing which pushed for this development, I guess it certainly played a significant role.
Please note that it’s still unclear whether the entire OnePlus 8 Series will be equipped with Warp Charge 30 Wireless support or not. Also, note that this is a hardware feature and the brand won’t be able to provide this to you through a software update.
