A sub-brand of Huawei – Honor revealed their two new smartphones at a launch event in Beijing, China. The two smartphones we are talking about are the Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro.

Honor V30 and V30 Pro

Both these smartphones are powered by the flagship Kirin 990 chipset. But there’s a slight difference between the two. The Honor V30 is powered by the basic 7nm Kirin 990 which is coupled with Balong 5000 modem for 5G capabilities. On the other hand, the V30 Pro is powered by 7nm+ Kirin 990 chipset which comes with an integrated 5G modem. Both the devices will be coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of Internal Storage.

On the front, both of them sports a 6.57-inch FHD+ display – not an AMOLED. The fingerprint sensor resides on the side of the device just like the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. It has a pill-shaped hole punch on the front to equip the dual selfie cameras. One of them is a 32MP selfie camera with Super Night Mode and other one is a 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter with 105-degree FoV.

Turning the phone around, we can see a rectangular piece in the corner which holds the triple camera system. This design reminds me of the budget Samsung devices and the latest renders of the S11 Series. Both the devices share the same 40MP Sony IMX600 sensor with Dual OIS and laser AF with the only difference of the aperture. The Honor V30 gets a slower f/1.8 lens while the Honor V30 Pro gets a faster f/1.6 lens. The secondary lens on both devices remains exactly the same – 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The final lens on the back of these devices is an ultrawide. Here, the Honor V30 gets an 8MP f/2.4 ultrawide camera with a conventional sensor while the Honor V30 Pro gets a 12MP sensor which is tailored for better video recording with its 16:9 aspect ratio and a f/2.2 lens.

Honor V30 and V30 Pro

Both the devices run on Magic UI 3.0.1 based on Android 10. Also, Honor has introduced the GPU Turbo and Kirin Gaming+ 2.0 for the best gaming experience. All the hardware is going to be powered by a 4,100 mAh battery with support for 40W Honor SuperCharge. Honor V30 Pro also gets a special treatment by having the support for 27W Super Wireless Charge.

As of now, this has been launched only in China with four colour options – Orange, Pearl White, Blue and Black. The first pre-order for these devices is scheduled on December 5 and the first flash sale will take place a week later.

Honor V30 starts at CNY3,299 for the 6GB/128GB variant while the 8GB/128GB variant is priced at CNY3,699. The V30 Pro costs slightly higher at CNY3,899 for the 8GB/128GB variant and CNY4,199 for the 8GB/256GB variant.
