Honor has taken the wrap off its new smartwatch – Honor MagicWatch 2. Honor MagicWatch 2 was recently unveiled at an event in China and it should be coming soon to India.
There are quite a few features which makes this an appealing buy. One of them is 14-days battery life. This would mean that one doesn’t have to worry about running out of charge by the end of the day – like usual smartwatches today. Some other features mainly include its focus on health and wellness.
In those health and wellness features, the first and the important one is heart rate monitoring along with tracking of distance, speed and burned calories. It can also calculate your SWOLF score i.e. the sum of the number of strokes and seconds you needed to swim one length of the pool. Here, a lower sum would mean that you’re much more efficient in swimming.
This watch won’t only track your heart rate when you ask it to do so. But it’ll continuously track it throughout the day and even warn you if it’s too low or too high. It’ll also guide you through a breathing exercise when it fells that you’re stressed.
Another feature in the health and wellness department is my favourite – sleep tracking. It’ll track your sleep and will even offer you suggestions on improving it. With the tracked data, it can also analyse your sleep data and diagnose 6 common types of sleep disorders – I’m pretty sure I’ve one of them.
And finally, if you want to keep track of your fitness workouts, then it’ll also help you to do so. It has 15 different fitness modes – starting from hiking to using a rowing machine. For tracking of your route, it also features the GPS + GLONASS constellations for positioning.
The Honor MagicWatch 2 is available in two different sizes. The larger one is 46mm which has 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454px which will result into 326ppi. On the other hand, the smaller variant is 42mm which has a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a display resolution of 390 x 390px resulting into the same 326ppi.
The watch is powered by the Kirin A1 chipset – same as the Huawei Watch GT 2. It has 4GB of Internal Storage out of which 2GB can be used to store around 500 songs which you can listen while exercising. Also, Honor claims that you can answer phone calls even if your phone is 150m away – and this is made possible by using advanced Bluetooth connectivity.
It is important to note that the 14-day battery life claimed by Honor is for the larger – 46mm variant. And this is calculated based on 90 minutes of GPS tracking for workouts, 30 minutes of calls over Bluetooth and 30 minutes of music playback every week. The smaller – 42mm variant would just last for a week with a similar usage.
In China, Honor MagicWatch 2 can be bought at a starting price of CNY1,099. This starting price is only for the Agate Black 42mm variant. The Charcoal Black 46mm would cost you CNY1,199. And the highest priced variants – Flax Brown 46mm and Sakura Gold 42mm – will cost you CNY1,399.
The Honor MagicWatch 2 will start making its way to the global markets including India starting December 12. The Indian pricing for the watch isn’t known yet but I would expect it to be priced around ₹10,000-₹12,000. I’ll let you all know once it arrives in India.
